The Complete Egypt - 11th September 2010 - 15 Days with Lucia Gahlin

This tour has been designed as a ‘Grand Tour’. There are many general tours of Egypt but nothing available quite like this. We will cover the entirety of Egyptian history and all the major sites as well as visiting some special out of the way places never heard of by most tour companies! If you’ve never been to Egypt before, or you’ve only been on the ‘standard holiday’ then this tour is for you. The tour is accompanied by Lucia Gahlin, whose knowledge of Egypt, charm and good humour will help make this holiday one to remember.

Upper Egypt - 4th October 2010 - 8 or 14 Days with Chris Naunton

Upper Egypt has some of the most famous historical sites in the world, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings among them. On this tour of Luxor and Aswan and all points in between we are also privileged to visit two tombs normally closed to the public; Hatshepsut’s ‘favourite’ Senenmut with its extraordinary astronomical ceiling and Merenptah in the Valley of the Kings.

From Karnak to Kharga - 22 November 2010 - 13 Days with Kent Weeks

This new tour takes in the glories of Luxor and also introduces the traveller to two of the largest Oases. These places are filled with amazing archaeology and are one of Egypt’s best kept secrets. If you’ve never been to the desert then there can be no better way to gain a comfortable introduction! Of course, being a Kent Week’s tour there is special access to, KV5, where we will have a full update on the latest discoveries.

The Daughters of Isis - 25th February 2011 - 11 Days with Lucia Gahlin

AWT favourite, Lucia Gahlin, takes a wonderful look at the women behind (and sometimes on) the throne of Egypt. With entry to the fabulous tomb of Nefertari in Luxor, this is a superb tour. With a hotel now available to us in Sohag, Meir, Akhmim, Dendera and Abydos now all feature. The tour features a full day at Amarna with world-renowned expert, Prof. Barry Kemp who will be giving an extensive private tour.

Journey to Amarna - 3rd March 2011 - 11 Days with Aidan Dodson

Middle Egypt has a wealth of amazing sites to explore and this tour is a great introduction to the more remote pyramid fields, the Faiyum and Amarna. Whilst in Cairo we have special permits to visit South Sakkara and the Sphinx Enclosure at Giza.

The Grand Tour with Bill Manley - 15 Days - 13th March 2011

There are many general tours of Egypt but nothing available quite like this. We will cover the entirety of Ancient Egyptian history and all the major cities. If you’ve never been to Egypt before, or you’ve only been on the ‘standard holiday,’ then this tour is for you.

The Road to Damascus with Nick Jackson - 11 Days - 8th September 2011

A trip to Syria is a journey into some of the most important events that shaped the ancient world. The Sumerian Palace of Mari, the birth place of writing at Ugarit, the dazzling city of Palmyra, the breathtaking fortresses of Krak and Aleppo and the desert cities of Russafa and Dura. We cannot recommend Syria highly enough and Nick Jackson has travelled there extensively. Still largely unspoilt, the sites can be savoured without crowds and commotion. Join us for a truly spectacular tour to a ‘must see’ destination.

Siwa - Journey to the Oracle - 8th October 2011 - 12 Days with Dylan Bickerstaffe

Siwa is still a relatively unknown, and consequently unspoilt, oasis far out in the Western Desert of Egypt. Its people are charming; its history is long and fascinating and its archaeological sites are unique. Join us on this rewarding journey through beautiful dunes, desolate plains and vast saltwater lakes, to a place that truly feels from a different time and where Alexander the Great became a god

A Walk in the Desert - 4th November 2011 - 8 Days with Janet Shepherd

This unique new desert tour is designed for those that want to spend some quality time walking through, and photographing, some of Egypt’s most stunning landscapes. We visit some new and unusual sites including the isolated Djara Cave. There will be plenty of time to enjoy and discover the vast area known as The White Desert. This itinerary will be very flexible on desert days as we will stop to walk and explore at some extraordinary locations. The Tour can be combined with an exploration of the Eastern Desert the following week.

The Eastern Desert - 12th November 2011 - 10 Days with Colin Reader

AWT returns to the Eastern Desert on this camping expedition looking at the geology of this rarely visited and intensely beautiful area of Egypt. We see fascinating rock art, Roman settlements and the great quarries of Mons Claudianus and Mons Porphyrites. A highlight of the tour will be a rare chance to visit the historic Monastery of St. Anthony.
